My dad....
Is actually pretty cool and has finally mellowed out a bit in his old age. I shared this on my FB page, but I'm going to share it here too because it was funny.
So my parents called my house just as my midwife was leaving. The convo that I had with my dad went like this;
I'll bold myself so you can know who said what. 'Hey Dad' 'Hey, how's it going?' 'Fine, my midwife just left my house.' 'Midwife eh? You must be going green!' Both of us bust up laughing. 'That was cute Dad!'
We ended up having a good visit with my midwife, her assistant and kids and hubby. Hubby made some off the wall statements about how he thought they had it right when men were in the waiting room during delivery. Uhhh, hello, you were in the room when our kids were born! He did make it clear that he wasn't catching anyone and that he was not going to cut the umbilical cord. Fine. Dork. Then my midwife calmed him down when she said that there was something to be said about women helping women and that if hubby just wanted to hang out, that was fine. Yay midwife! The girls loved listening to heartbeats and using the doppler. S2 learned that the static blips were the baby kicking (which is the reason we could not get a heartbeat- baby was kicking too much, which is a good sign). ;)

Is it normal....
to be excited that my midwife is coming over for my appointment? Even my kids are asking me when she is coming. I'll ask her (my midwife) if it's cool that I link her page to my post. She is uber cool. If I remember to take pictures during my appointment, I will post them for you for sure! :)

Lyrically challenged....
So. I bought "The Princess and the Frog' for the girls. They love the songs and have pretty much memorized them even though they've watched the movie twice since I got it on DVD. Simone has made up her own version of one of the songs............ instead of 'going down the bayou,' she has been singing 'going down the potty.' Yeah. Funny. Plus, she refuses to be corrected and sings her potty version even louder! What am I going to do with this one? I have to get her on film. She is a performer for sure! Going down the potty!

7 year itch?
Today, hubby and I are celebrating our 7 year anniversary. We've been together on and off since 1995, but got married in 2003. So 7 years and (almost) 4 kids later, we are still together. He still makes me laugh, still stresses me out, still gives me goosebumps when he gives me hugs, still leaves his clothes on the floor, still supports babywearing, recycling and upcycling and best of all, he puts up with me! ;) He's my buddy and I would not trade him in for anything in the world. I really, truly believe in marriage. No one said this was going to be easy, but we work hard at our relationship and because of this, we learn about ourselves and each other on a daily (yes daily!!) basis. He would not be thrilled that his picture is up, but this time he is taking one for the team! lol.

I've been trying.....
to implement an evening where we can hang out without the tv on have some fun and strengthen our family bonds. Well, I just happen to have Twister. This is a game that my children have never played before. When I was a kid, I can't remember if we had Twister or not, but we did have a funky electronic Bingo game. It was fun to play with my brothers and parents. So, along with implementing left, right, hands, feet and color concepts and sight words (because we all love the chance to learn), we had a great time with lots of laughs. Left foot yellow!

S3 turned 3!
Our youngest turned 3 recently! It was pretty much a week long celebration due to a serious lack of planning on my part. (oops!) So my parents came over one day, we at cupcakes and sang the next day, my mother in law came the day after and my brother in law and his family popped by last week! S3 believes that it's her birthday anytime we make cupcakes or cake anyway, so this was kind of just a bonus for her because she got presents! She's our firecracker- fiesty and full of energy. We love her and we know she will make an amazing big sister to the noob!

I made soup!
I'm not sure I ever showed you the soup I made a few weeks ago. It's made with coconut milk, chicken, potatoes, cilantro, scallions and a bouillon cube. Pretty eh? :)

So I got a book called
'How To Never Look Fat Again- over 1000 ways to dress thinner without dieting' by Charla Krupp, a couple of weeks ago to review. It came in the mail and I was like well, I'll get to it (the first trimester pregnancy exhaustion is kicking my heinie!). So one day last week, I sat down at the kitchen table to eat a snack and there the book was sitting. I opened it and could not put it down.
WOW! It's not a book that you would read from cover to cover in one sitting, but it is very easy reading with a lot (I mean a ton) of great photos to give you examples of what you should/should not be doing. It is arranged so that you can pick your 'problem area,' learn how to dress it in order to look thinner and move on. There are some amazing tips and tricks to use to look slimmer (no, you probably won't get to look as thin as Kate Moss, but you may be able to give her a run for her money!) I was happy to see a picture of the author and she is a woman with curves. Very refreshing, although I kind of see mainstram media going from uber skinny to curvier women. All I need Charla Krupp to do now is to write this book again and include preggos! haha. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone who does not have the patience to diet but has the patience to shop. Well worth the read.
